about purplegirl
Oh wow, I could say a ton on this topic. :) Let's see...I'm a college student with a major in journalism and a minor in family and consumer sciences. I am very blessed to have a very wise and caring mom and dad and two loving older sisters. :) But the most important part of my life is Jesus Christ. Without Him, I would not have any reason to live. He should be the center of everything I do because He died for me on the cross so I would not have to pay for my punishment of sin. He paid that punishment for me and because of that, I owe Him my life in service to Him. I like to call myself "a princess in training" because I'm learning to serve my King, Jesus Christ, the best way I can.

Good Morning!! :)

It's a cloudy, breezy Saturday. So much for my idea of tanning today. :) Right now I'm curled up at my desk with a cup of steaming Folgers classic roast coffee (an absolute necessity for a Saturday morning, by the way :)) while admiring my bright bouquet of purple and pink flowers--just barely starting to wilt--given to me for my birthday last Monday. And I'm listening to one of my favorite songs, "Letters from War" by Mark Schultz. So far, it's been a good day. :)

I awakened at about 8 a.m. this morning and worked out for about 30 minutes. lol, I'm really trying to get back into shape before I leave for school in the fall. Last summer I went running and lifted weights every morning...but that uh, kind-of stopped when I left for college in the fall. :) I worked out some the first semester (about one to two times a week--pathetic, I know.) But the second semester, I was sooo tired all the time, that I had zero energy when it came to working out. BUT that is SOOOO going to change this next semester! I already have my schedule planned out, and as long as I get more sleep at night (yeah, right!) then I can get together with some friends and go to the gym in the evening. Ummm...we'll see. It sounds like it will work now... ;)

On another note... :) for my devotions, I've been reading in Isaiah this summer. I wanted something a little more challenging then the Gospels or Proverbs, so I'd take time to read and study it--and I've learned a lot more about Isaiah in the process. This morning I read about the folly of trusting in anything but the Lord. The Israelites were relying on the strength of their men, their horses and the vast number of their chariots to bring victories in their battles. But it never worked. Only when they relied upon the Lord did they win. So, I have to ask myself, what am I trusting in? Am I trusting in college to find me that perfect guy ;), am I trusting in my job/ parents to pay for my college bills, or am I trusting in my own writing and interviewing skills to compose an award-winning piece for the Globe? Whatever happens with guys, finances, or awards will happen through the Lord's work, not through anything of my own.

Wow, this has gotten a bit long. I've got to make some phone calls and study a bit of French, so I'll close for now.
thanks for reading! :)
have a fantabulous, purply day!! :)
